The Foundation for Gender Equality
The Foundation for Gender Equality began in 2016 with a simple idea: help women and girls achieve equality. For the Foundation, equality, with all of its complexity, cultural and global dimensions, is the transformative issue of our time. Solve this and the world will be a better place for all of us - men, women, children, young and old alike. The Foundation for Gender Equality invites and welcomes all who would like to Stand Together.
The Foundation for Gender Equality will create new pathways, synergies and platforms to address the critical issues impacting the development of women and girls. The Foundation will foster opportunities and remove obstacles for women and girls who currently face inequity. It will establish a new model for philanthropy by identifying and supporting successful initiatives that can be replicated broadly. It will reach out for partners, including men and boys, to join its urgent call to action and Stand Together.
Through its ground-breaking programs, the Foundation will bring together agents of change, champions, experts, grass-roots organizations and others for new dialogues focusing on shared solutions, hope and positive outcomes. By investing in women and girls, the Foundation will be instrumental in promoting massive societal change with great benefits for all.
The Foundation believes that women and girls should live free from oppression, stigma and artificial constraints. The Foundation is focused on five key areas, numbers one and two are both initial and long-term priorities:
Violence and abuse against women and girls, including domestic violence and sexual abuse;
Inclusion and focus on men and boys as partners in achieving empowerment and equality;
Economic inequality and lack of empowerment;
Reliable access to quality healthcare and its impact on women, families and societies; and,
Equal access to educational opportunities as a cornerstone of advancement.
